Larvikite is a monzonitic Feldspar rock, containing Albite, Orthoclase and Anorthite, plus secondary Anorthoclase, Perthite, Plagioclase and Nepheline Syenite. Feldspars are a group of minerals that have similar structures and are complex in groupings and mineral composition. Larvikite is dark grey, dark blue to black, with Quartz or Nepheline inclusions. Larvikite displays distinctive bluish Schiller characteristic.
Larvikite has many pseudo names like Pearlspar, Blue Pearl, Black Moonstone and Black Labradorite (to name a few). Larvikite is used in construction to create building facia stones.
